Statement by Carol
I
paint intuitively. Sketchbooks live all over my house & studio where
I draw my ideas for paintings. Sometimes the image is without explanation;
the concept appears later.
The actual painting has a visceral feeling to me. I pull images out
of the paint, listening to the sound of the paint, the feel of the paint.
Oils are great because of their creaminess - it's like painting with
butter. Painting on wood feels old and soothing and alive.
Each painting seems to have a life of its own. Sometimes the process
is long and difficult, other times, startling quick. That is the joy
of the process for me, as I am constantly surprised and delighted with
the journey.
